Upper Merion Area High School kicked off our reading culture in full force for Build Your Stack Day!
From the English Department wearing t-shirts that celebrate reading to our students taking on our photo scavenger hunt—capturing everything from book towers to "Book Face" pics—UM took some time today to call attention to the written word. Reading isn't just an assignment here at UMAHS; it’s a culture we’re building together, one page at a time!

Congratulations to our very own Maria Savini! Maria, a teacher at UMAHS, was recently named The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History PA Teacher of the Year! The institute is proud to recognize educators who go above & beyond to make history engaging, meaningful & relevant in their classrooms! Maria advances , along with the other 53 finalists in the nation, to the finals for the 2026 National History Teacher of the Year Award! Congratulations & Good Luck Maria!

HS Classroom Library Showcase: Aside from the assigned literature, UMAHS English classes encourage books that allow students to explore their personal interests and connections. When students investigate classroom libraries & the school library, they begin to see themselves as readers with choice and take ownership of their reading. Building a personal stack creates interest & empowerment, making reading an ongoing part of their daily life. BUILD YOUR STACK UPPER MERION!
