HORNS UP - PBIS
HORNS UP was created (August 2021) through collaboration among students, teachers, and administration. HORNS UP follows the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) framework, an evidence-based approach to increasing student academic achievement and social emotional growth.
The program identifies five core values (Honest, Optimistic, Respectful, Neighborly, and SUPportive) that students and staff believe are the most important characteristics for members of our school community. Using the HORNS UP values, a matrix of expected behaviors for students and staff was created. During the first week of school each year, all students will participate in HORNS UP lessons to learn/review both the HORNS UP values and expectations.
Throughout the course of the school year, students are recognized and acknowledged for exemplifying the HORNS UP values and expectations. These acknowledgements are largely determined by the HORNS UP Student Team. As an extension of our commitment to diversity and equity, staff and administration will be using our HORNS UP acknowledgements to make every high school student feel visible and valued.
